Wow, after reading some of your comments I feel old lol. I was part of the generation that got to enjoy this series on tv after school every day. An excellent piece you have done. Thank you for letting me relive my childhood fascinations again.
Love the roughed look as though coming straight from a battle! Great overall texture work in the classic distressed styling on most hard surface modelling these days.
My only critique would be the makeup of the face. Voltron always felt...deific in facial structure with nearly androgynous beatific features that were at once inspiring and intimidating. A similar effect as Lady Liberty or many ancient anthropomorphic depictions of Justice . I think what makes it miss that original feel is the thinness of the lips in your model. It makes the expression more grim, true, but in that humanizing it lessens the impact of impartial, unconquerable justice and goodness.
Your critique rings absolutely true with me - I've always felt that Voltron's face had this androgynous beatification that sets it apart from other 'heroes', but I didn't understand why. Thanks for enlightening me!
